Are You Ready for Global Meetings Industry Day, April 11?

Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), set for Thursday, April 11, is an international day of advocacy that seeks to showcase the “undeniable value that business meetings, trade shows, incentive travel, exhibitions, conferences and conventions bring to people, businesses and communities.”

GMID event organizers have created a helpful toolkit with resources, such as key messages and graphics, to engage and amplify, using hashtags #GMID2024 and #MeetingsMatter. The toolkit also suggests five easy ways to engage in the effort, including:

  • Highlight a meeting in your community and its positive impact on local economies.
  • Leverage social media channels by showcasing why meetings matter; be sure to use hashtags to join the conversation.
  • Engage with media, local elected officials and members of Congress.
  • Host your own event and share details with GMID.
  • Distribute a press release to generate further attention.

In 2023, the annual celebration broke several previous milestones, reaching 45 million impressions worldwide from 70 events in 35 countries.
